Boris Cortes

Growing up in the Bronx impacted Boris Cortes by giving him the opportunity to begin his photography career at an early age. In middle school, he fell in love with the analog process of black and white photography as a way to express himself with the camera. Cortes’ work uses dark imagery and symbolic allusions to shed light on the journey of finding one’s identity, often using himself as a part of the image. He hopes to graduate with a degree in photography and pursue it as a career. Cortes has participated in exhibitions at both ICP and at the Point, including Vantage Point 24: Celebrating 20 Years.
